Soave has had bad press over the years; mainly due to its inclusion in cheap ratty Chardonnay blends… the real thing, however, is a joy to behold. This little beauty has a pale yellow colour with an aroma of white blossoms and fresh crystalline nectarine stone fruits, which follow through to the palate with rounded weight and depth, though without feeling heavy. A deceptively complex wine of balanced acidity and careful lees ageing, that manages to be both luscious and fresh simultaneously, with a velvety texture and long clean finish. This is great example of what Italian whites are all about; I can’t rate this highly enough. £11.99 from the Oxford Wine Company and worth every penny!
