Chateau Haute Galine Minervois 2014

A unique one-off bottling from a decent harvest helped to reduce the cost of this high quality Minervois… it should easily be twice this price.

A one off bottling for the Wine Society, blended together after a good harvest in 2014 left the producer with plenty of high quality wine left over. It has a deep ruby colour with Purple rim; intense inky aromas of bramble blackberry, blackcurrant and a lick of vanilla with a faint edge of brooding minerality and savory crumble lurking beneath. Fresh ‘n’ juicy yet concentrated black fruits on the palate (black cherry / blackcurrant), with subtle coal like minerality and a clean acidity running through ripe but medium-light tannins to a medium-long finish. This is still a young wine and really opens up with a little breathing, so give it half an hour in a decanter to wake it up. It’s rare to find a wine at anywhere close to this price with this level of fruit concentration, intensity, balance and complexity… I can see why the Wine Society went out of their way to pick this up. £6.75 a bottle from the Wine Society, so if you’re a member order some why you can!
